Spend a day at Sequatchie Cove Farm in Sequatchie, Tennessee learning the basics of broom making with instructor Heather Ashworth.
The art of broom making is one of high craftsmanship and function. To make a broom with one's own hands and utilize it daily, is a unique satisfaction. The added knowledge and ability to grow broomcorn makes this craft near self-sustainable.
In this one day intro class students will learn the basics of broom making when binding 3 different styles of handbrooms. An introduction to broomcorn and processing will proceed the class with students taking home seeds and a growing pamphlet.
The experience includes a farm to table lunch, made from ingredients grown at Sequatchie Cove farm. Self guided farm tours encouraged during breaks and after your class. The farm's Trading Post will be open for shopping after the workshop ends where you will find a wide variety of meats, cheeses, vegetables, grains, eggs, and more– all produced on the farm.
